Canada is viewed as a young country by European standards. Its constitution was signed in 1867, which makes it 148 years old. The first inhabitants of the nation were the aboriginals, and they were split into two groups, the First Nations and Inuit. The First Nations varied from being farmers, fishers, hunters, etc, and the Inuit were hunters due to the poor soil in the North. The British and French established settlements in the early 1600s to trap and trade fur. After many wars between the French and English, the British took rule over France. However, through the Quebec Act, Britain allowed French speaking citizens the political, religious, and linguistic rights. During the revolutionary war many American settlers moved to Canada.
